Webinar: Digital Twins, AI, & New Perspectives on Patient Care Join the University of Maryland's Fischell Department of Bioengineering and Biocomputational Engineering degree program on Friday, April 22nd, at 12:00 p.m. ET for a free virtual fireside chat-style conversation featuring Dr. Eric Stahlberg (Frederick National Laboratory) and Dr. David Lindsay (Leidos Biomedical Research). Drs. Stahlberg and Lindsay will discuss how digital twins have the potential to transform health care and pave the way for new therapies to treat cancers and address other health challenges. A digital twin is a virtual representation – or digital counterpart – of a physical object or process. Digital twins are used in a wide variety of fields ranging from aerospace engineering, to financial services. In health care, a digital twin can serve as a crucial substitute of the human body, allowing scientists and clinicians to leverage data to examine possible treatment outcomes. During this event, Dr. Lindsay will interview Dr. Stahlberg about the potential for digital twins to transform health care – particularly in the realm of cancer care. In addition, Dr. Lindsay will share his own perspective on how advances in biomedical research are pointing to new avenues for vaccine development and infectious disease treatment. Immediately following the webinar, participants are invited to take part in one of two 20-minute add-on meetings designed to foster informal discussions and networking with the speakers and fellow attendees.
