The University of Maryland will host the 2025 International Joint Graduate Course in Sustainable Energy Conversion and the Environment.

The University of Maryland Center for Environmental Energy Engineering (CEEE) will host an international graduate course on sustainable energy conversion, in summer 2025, bringing together engineering students from five countries to develop solutions to this globally important issue.

The International Joint Graduate Course in Sustainable Energy Conversion and the Environment, July 21-August 1, 2025, is a collaborative program offered in partnership between the University of Maryland, the Technical University of Hamburg in Germany, Korea University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University in China and Waseda University in Japan. This two-week intensive version of ENME 701, “Sustainable Energy Conversion and the Environment,” will be taught by CEEE faculty in conjunction with visiting professors from the participating universities, offering international perspectives.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for University of Maryland students to collaborate with their peers from around the world on sustainability issues that affect all of us,” says CEEE Director Reinhard Radermacher, who will be among the course’s teachers. CEEE Co-Director Yunho Hwang will also teach the course.

The course’s objectives are to understand technologies for sustainable energy production, conversion, and utilization and to gain experience in designing sustainable energy systems. Student teams will develop their own vision for a future sustainable energy scenario for each country participating. Students will also have the opportunity to bond during area excursions and social events.

For more information, see the course webpage or contact CEEE Director Reinhard Radermacher.
