Steven Hoffenson, a graduating senior in mechanical engineering, was the student speaker at the Clark School commencement graduation ceremony on May 21 in the Cole Student Activities Building.
Hoffenson was also a Maryland Medallion Society and Byrd/Elkins Finalist at the University of Maryland 26th Annual Awards Program held on May 6th. Steven is from Marietta, Georgia, who served as co-facilitator of his IMPACT Gemstone Team and a Section leader in GEMS 100 and 104. He also served as the Treasurer and in other officer positions with Zeta Psi fraternity. He was a team captain for the Relay for Life and is a member of Order of Omega, Golden Key, and Tau Beta Pi, and he is an officer in Omnicron Delta Kappa and President of the Mortar Board.
Raymond Schiavone, president and CEO of Quark, was the main commencement speaker at the ceremony. A veteran software company leader and former GE executive, Schiavone was president and CEO of Arbortext, Inc., prior to joining Quark. He also has served as president of TPN Register, a GE and Thomas Publishing joint venture.
During is 14-year career at GE, Schiavone held a variety of leadership positions throughout the United States and Europe. Schiavone is a member of the Clark School Board of Visitors. He holds an MBA from the University of Maryland and a B.S. from Syracuse University.
The commencement ceremony was followed by a reception in the Kim Engineering Building Plaza for graduates and their families.
