The 2nd International Energy 2030 Conference will be held during November 4-5, 2008 in Abu Dhabi, UAE, and the Mechanical Engineering department will play a major role in planning the event.

The Petroleum Institute (PI), an engineering school financed and governed by Abu Dhabi National Oil Company ? and a research partner of the ME department ? will host the event as part of the larger Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference slated for November 3-6, 2008.

?We at the University of Maryland have been working with the Petroleum Institute since 2006, fostering PI to become a world class institution,? said ME Professor Ashwani K. Gupta.

?We are true team partners in multi-faceted aspects of education and research, in addition to being part of the conference organization,? noted Gupta.

The conference will be a venue for experts from around the world to discuss energy issues including research and development in oil and gas as well as energy availability and environmental issues that will gain importance during the next 25 years.

Papers and posters are solicited for presentation at the conference. Subsequently, the papers are planned for publication in the Journal of Energy after peer review.
