Professor of Mechanical Engineering Shapour Azarm has been appointed as an Associate Editor of ASME Transactions, Journal of Mechanical Design for a three year term starting in October 2004. Azarm was previously the Associate Editor of this journal from January 1993 to December 1995. He is also the Associate Editor of Mechanics Based Design of Structures and Machines (formerly Mechanics of Structures and Machines) since January 1998.

Professor Azarm?s research interests include multi-objective (including evolutionary) and multi-disciplinary design optimization; approximation of computationally expensive simulations; decision maker's (or customer's) preference capturing for product design selection; robust design optimization and selection, with applications for single product and product line design; and integration of marketing and engineering design.
