Despite the top-notch education our grad students are getting, sometimes it’s the basic management skills that need the fine tuning. Knowing that students have so many demands competing for their attention and time, Prof. Reinhard Radermacher, director of the Center for Environmental Energy Engineering (CEEE), has developed some useful professional development workshops to help students face the challenges of keeping on track. The CEEE time management seminar, attended by nearly 30 CEEE students, Mechanical Engineering Department faculty, and ASHRAE and AEE student chapter members, was held in October and concentrated on the importance of ensuring that a person with many obligations does not lose track of what is really important. This workshop teaches hard working academics about tools that have proven successful in terms of setting individually tailored goals and applying proven time management techniques.
