Forbes has ranked Washington, D.C., #2 and Baltimore #5 among the nation's best cities for tech jobs.

The ranking rated areas on the number of tech-related jobs added over the past two years and the past decade.

Government spending boosted the ranking for Washington, which boasts many jobs in computer systems design, programming and private-sector research and development.

Baltimore also sees federal spending, fostering a 38.8 percent growth in tech jobs over the past decade in that area.
